Adding more than two elevators per floor will sacrifice space for other rooms. In addition all floors can hold up to two elevators.

Upgrading the vault door to the max is very important, to give you time to transfer your best dwellers with the most effective weapons and defence over to the 1st floor. There are 25 floors all floors can hold eight rooms. But they're pretty stupid, lol, because, instead of going directly over to the elevator attached to the vault door room, they go back to attacking the dwellers in the previous room just before the far right one, from backtracking, which makes them come under fire from the dwellers again, which pretty much results in them all dying before they can even get to the vault door elevator. This will expose the deathclaws to more attacks from the dwellers in this room and make it pretty much impossible for them to even make it alive to the 2nd floor (if your dwellers have good enough weapons), because deathclaws always continue moving forward, to the right, through the rooms on a floor until they come to an elevator, but if there is no elevator attached to the far right room on the 1st floor, they cannot go down to the 2nd floor at this point, the only way they can do this is backtracking and moving back through the previous rooms to get to the elevator attached to the vault door room. One way of doing this is if you have 2 other rooms on the same floor as the vault door, one that is 3 rooms wide, and the other that is 2, but you don't attach an elevator to the room on the far right side of the 1st floor. Yeah, that's the same thing I do, even if the deathclaws get past the vault door, if you can still manage to kill them before they reach the 2nd floor, that helps a great deal.
